Ex-Black Stars player Augustine Arhinful is urging the local based players called up for the Ghana-Kenya game to seize the opportunity to pave way for other players.

Head coach of the Black Stars Kwesi Appiah has invited three local players as part of his 24-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya on March 23.

The trio invited are from Asante Kotoko who are the only Ghanaian club engaged in a competition in the CAF Confederation Cup. The players invited are Amos Frimpong, Kwame Bonsu and Felix Annan.

According to Arhinful, the inclusion of local players will boost the confidence of the players as well as encourage others to perform at their best.

"It is a good thing for the local-based players to be given the nod in the Black Stars to prove what they can offer and I believe it will serve as a motivation for others in playing here" told Daily Graphic.

"This is a good initiative and I want to praise coach Kwesi Appiah for the opportunity he has given to these three players, especially with what they are doing with Kotoko in the African campaign", he added.

The Kotoko trio will join the team today when they arrive from their trip to Zambia.
