Asamoah Gyan latest to offer condolence after President's demise

Asamoah Gyan is the latest amongst a distinguished list of personalities to have offered their heartfelt condolence following the passing of Ghana's President John Atta-Mills.

The 68-year-old law professor died at the 37 Military Hospital on Tuesday afternoon after taking ill a few hours earlier.

The President's death has thrown the whole nation into a state of mourning with solidarity messages pouring in from all parts of the world.

And the Ghana striker who has had several encounters with the deceased due to his crucial role with the Black Stars has added his voice in consoling the family and the people of Ghana during this time of national tragedy.

"I write to express my heartfelt condolence on the bereavement of President Mills," Gyan says in a statement.

"I extend my condolence to Mrs. Dr.Naadu Mills ,the family and the entire nation in this difficult time as we mourn the sudden departure of our President.

"Indeed the nation has lost a great servant who spent his entire life to the service of our dear country.

"I pray his demise strengthens democracy and echoes peace and unity now and forever."

Vice President John Dramani Mahama has since been sworn in as President to steer the affairs of the state until after the general elections on December 7.
