Spokesperson for Karela United Eric Aligidede has stated that Asante Kotoko target William Opoku has opted for a move to the American top flight league.

Reports in the media indicated that Opoku Mensah has been identified as a key target for the Porcupine Warriors in their bid to bolster their attacking options for the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

But the Anyinase-based side's communications chief disclosed that the player prefers a move abroad than in the local league as he seeks to break into Ghana's senior national team.

"The player was willing to play for Asante Kotoko SC but he is considering the MLS as the most priority," He says he has a greater ambition of playing for the National team (Black Stars) and that the MLS will help him attain those feat," He told Agyenkwa FM.

"We confronted William Opoku Mensah and he made it clear that he has had a feel of playing in Ghana and for Kotoko but needs to continue elsewhere and that he opted for a move to the USA."

Aligidede added, "Kotoko have communicated to us on the acquisition of the service of our player Williams Opoku Mensah but we are now facing a difficult challenge because United State American outfit alert us that they also want him"
