ASEAN Leagues Wrap: Madura, Bali continue perfect starts

Published on: 04 June 2019

Kuala Lumpur: Madura United and Bali United maintained their 100 percent records at the top of Indonesia’s Liga 1, while defending champions Persija Jakarta slipped into the bottom three as the domestic action in ASEAN concluded ahead of the FIFA international break.

While the leagues in Malaysia, Myanmar and Laos had already paused for the national team games, there has been plenty of action elsewhere in the region over the past seven days, so join the-AFC.com as we review the best of it.

Indonesia

A late goal by Paulo Sergio saw Bali United see off defending champions Persija Jakarta 1-0 on Friday as they made it three wins from three and Persija – having picked up just a solitary point – dropped into the relegation zone in Indonesia.

Madura United remain out in front on goal difference, though, after beating Borneo 3-0 three days earlier, while PSM Makassar dropped their first points of the campaign following a scoreless draw against TIRA-Persikabo.

Bangkok United moved into third following a 3-1 win over Chiangrai United last Wednesday while, at the other end, Muangthong United moved off the bottom last week after seeing off Sukhothai 2-0.
