Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold SC Frederick Acheampong says his outfit are ready to represent Ghana in next season's CAF Champions League.
Football activities in the West African country was brought to a standstill after the public airing of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas investigative exposé which highlighted corruption in the local game.
In the wake of the exposé, the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) appointed Mr. Francis Oti Akenteng and Dr. Kofi Amoah as liaison officers, to help reform football in the country.
Before the league was halted, AshantiGold SC were sitting atop of the top flight league standings, with Medeama SC occupying the second spot.
Several aficionados have opined that the 2017/18 league season be truncated and start afresh in 2019 to synchronize with the European calendar.
Should the CAF/FIFA two-man Liaison team go ahead with the suggestions, AshantiGold will be declared champions of the 2017/18 league campaign and therefore will represent the nation in CAF's elite club competition.
"We are still doing our training day in and day out so with a little effort and support from Ghanaians we can go and do well in Africa," Acheampong told Happy FM.
"I have spoken to Medeama SC who is first on the league table and they are also ready for the Africa."
"This is not the first time we are experiencing such situation in Ghana, It has happened before and AshantiGold represented Ghana so there is a precedent to current situation."
"If the two teams are ready to represent Ghana in Africa I don't see anything wrong with it because if the clubs are active that is where the liaison Team will get players for the national teams."
