AshantiGold SC coach Charles Akunnor has expressed his delight with their 1-1 stalemate with WAFA on Match Day 8 of the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.

The league leaders went into the game on the back of their defeat against Liberty Professionals in Week 6 and needed to return to winning ways.

But they were pegged back by Bashiru Omar's penalty before Ivorian import Richard Djodi rescued a point for the Miners at the Sogakofe Red Bulls Arena.

The league leaders were held by the Academy boys, and felt the referee's call to award a penalty to WAFA was disappointing.

Despite the setback, Coach Akunnor insists he’s happy with the outcome of the match, though he believes they should have carried the day.

"We going home with a point, last week we lost bitterly so no complains, I mean I'm comfortable with the one point," he said after the game.

"It was possible we could have won the match but I'm okay with the results," he added.

"I can't complain, when you talk it becomes an issue, we got a point so we are happy." However, the center referee added ten minutes of extra time to the game which Akunor says is "uncalled for."

"What really amazes me is the ten minutes extra time, it is just uncalled for."
