Manchester United defender Ashley Young has signed a one-year contract extension with the club until 2020.

The 33-year-old full-back's current deal was due to expire in the summer.

Young is one of United's longest-serving players and has recently been made skipper in the continuing absence of club captain Antonio Valencia.

He joined United for £17m from Aston Villa in 2011, making 227 appearances and winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup.

Young follows Anthony Martial and Phil Jones in signing new deals with the club.
