Chonburi: A new generation of future international stars are set to discover their opponents at September's AFC U-16 Women's Championship Thailand 2019, with the competition's official draw to be held at Chonburi's Oakwood Hotel on Thursday.

Two hard-fought qualification stages have whittled a Continent-wide field down to eight remaining teams, with the competition's three former champions - Japan, DPR Korea and Korea Republic - all represented in the draw.

The eight qualified teams will be divided into two groups of four, with the top two in each group to advance to the knockout stage.

Hosts Thailand and 2017 winners DPR Korea are top seeds, while Korea Republic and Japan - who are in Pot 2 - also qualified automatically by virtue of their strong showing two years ago.

They are joined by qualifying group winners Australia and China PR in Pot 3, with Bangladesh and first-time qualifiers Vietnam completing the line-up in Pot 4.

Since its inception in 2005, the AFC U-16 Women's Championship has become one of the world's elite women's youth competitions, with four teams going on to win the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, and three more reaching the final after qualifying via the Asian Finals.

The AFC U-16 Women's Championship draw will commence 15:30 local time, and will be broadcast live below.
