Assistant coach of Asante Kotoko, Akakpo Patron has praised the character of his players after twice coming from behind to beat Ashantigold 3-2 in a friendly on Sunday.

Former Asante Kotoko forward Saddick Adams put the miners ahead before Burkinabe forward Yacouba Sogne leveled for the Reds.

Eric Donkor, another former Kotoko player scored to put the Obuasi outfit in the lead again but Sogne pulled parity  before Wahab Adams grabbed the winner for the Porcupine Warriors.

A very satisfied Akakpo Patron hailed the fighting spirit of his players insisting they deserved the victory over their rivals.

'The character of our boys is very professional and the mentality is there, topping up with their mentality," he said after the game.

"Once the team is leading us we don't give up because already we put it into their mind that, it's all about the winning mentality, it does not matter who you are playing. Every game we have to win and that winning mentality is there," he added.

"Even after the third goal we still created some chances we could have buried but we are happy with the three goals we scored."

Kotoko will play the same seven next Sunday, these follows a series of friendlies lined up by the Ghanaian giants following the suspension of the domestic top flight league.
