Atleti ambition satisfies Oblak

Goalkeeper Jan Oblak says he has no doubts that Atletico Madrid will continue to challenge for trophies in the future, having extended his contract with the club.

The 26-year-old Slovenia international signed an extended deal in April which runs until the summer of 2023, putting to bed talk of him possibly moving on.

I am certain that the club will do everything possible to sign quality players.

And Oblak is happy with what the Rojiblancos hierarchy are planning, despite a number of players having been linked with possible exits this summer.

He told Marca: "I renewed here, but a new contract does not change anything. As long as Atletico's ambition is the same as mine, I will continue here - I stayed because their ambitions and mine are the same.

"Some people may believe that the ambition of the club has not been the same because important players have left, but I am certain that the club will do everything possible to sign quality players.

"When I went to sign the new contract, we talked about the future and they gave me guarantees of the ambition of the club, as they told me that their aspirations were not going to change."

Atleti have finished inside the top three in La Liga in each of the last seven seasons, winning the title in 2014, while they have also reached the Champions League final twice in the same timeframe and won the Europa League in 2018.

They are priced at 20/1 to be crowned Spanish champions next season, with Real Madrid 6/4 and Barcelona 4/7.
