Bardsley ready for season run-in

Published on: 26 March 2019

Phil Bardsley says he and the rest of the Burnley squad are refreshed and ready for the run-in to the end of the Premier League season.

Bardsley and the other members of the Clarets squad not away on international duty have had a few days off from training and the defender says it has been a useful break and a chance to look at ways to improve in the last seven games of the campaign.

We need to start putting the performances and results into one and climb up that table.

Burnley are in an uncomfortable position in the league, sitting just a place and two points above the bottom three.

With Huddersfield and Fulham looking destined for a return to the Championship the Clarets are among a host of clubs fighting to avoid the last relegation place and Bardsley admits the time for talking is over and Sean Dyche's squad have to get the results needed to guarantee survival.

He told the club's official website: "It's a results' business and when you've not won in four, people start to look at you and doubt you.

"It's up to us now to put that right. We felt we should have won the game against Leicester, but we didn't, and the talking is probably over now.

"We need to start putting the performances and results into one and climb up that table."

Burnley are 11/4 to be relegated at the end of the season with Cardiff 1/3 and Southampton 20/1.

Burnley entered the international break on the back of a damaging defeat to 10-man Leicester and, after an eight-match unbeaten run to start 2019, they have lost the last four.

They are back at Turf Moor on Saturday, facing Wolves before starting April with a trip to Bournemouth followed by a home game with relegation rivals Cardiff.

Burnley are 21/10 to win on Saturday with Wolves 13/10 and the draw 11/5.
