Black Meteors captain Isaac Twum pleads with NC to speed up return of football in Ghana

IK Start midfielder Isaac Twum has lamented over the lack of domestic football in Ghana, pleading with the Normalisation Committee to speed up the return of the game in the West African nation.

There has not been competitive football in Ghana since the showing of the Anas Number 12 documentary, which caught several top officials of the Football Association in corrupt practices.

A normalisation committee set up by FIFA were mandated to return football to normalcy after the collapse of the FA, but after six months, there is no football in Ghana.

And Isaac Twum, who previously played for Inter Allies in the local league wants the return of local football to keep domestic footballers active.

“It is very worrying, I know how it feels because I was once a local player, is frustrating and I sometimes talk to some of the guys,” the former Inter Allies player told Happy FM.

“The Normalization Committee should try and make football return so these players would get active.

“Because they are not playing most of them are not being paid and is very worrying.”

Isaac Twum will lead the Black Meteors on Saturday against Gabon in the first leg of the AFCON U-23 qualifier in Accra.
