Black Princesses midfielder Ernestina Abambila expresses gratitude to Ghanaians after World Cup exit

Black Princesses midfielder Ernestina Abambila has thanked Ghanaians for their unflinching support to the team despite the disappointing performances at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in France.

Ghana failed to progress to the knockout phase of the competition after losing their first two games to France and the Netherlands.

The Black Princesses were thumped in the first game by hosts France 4-1 and were thrashed by the Netherlands 4-0.

However, the team earned some pride after beating New Zealand in the final game of the group to bow out gracefully.

"Unfortunately, things didn’t go well as we planned in this tournament. We really fought hard to reach the goal but we couldn’t, but it's also part of the game. Will also take this opportunity to thank each and everyone for their support and we are much grateful for your support guys,' she posted.

The Black Princesses were making their fifth appearance at the FIFA U-20 World Cup but failed to achieve the target they set of reaching the knockout phase.

The team will be expected to arrive in the coming days as the country prepares to host the Africa Women's Championship in November.
