Captain of the Black Queens Elizabeth Addo has apologized to Ghanaians after her side's exit from the Africa Women's Cup of Nations.

Ghana bowed out of of the competition on home soil at the group stages after picking only four points in three games.

Following the 1-1 draw with Cameroon and Mali's victory over Algeria, the host and win dream was dashed.

“It's very pathetic we are out of the competition but we thank Ghanaians for their unmeasured support. God knows best and in all let’s give him the credit,” she told New Mercury FM.

“We apologize to them [Ghana], they shoul let go and pardon us, it wasn’t our plan to bow out of the campaign at this stage, World cup ticket was our focus”, Addo added.

Ghana's exit from the competition means, they failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in France next year.

Meanwhile, South Africa, Mali, Nigeria and Cameroon will be battling it out for the ultimate as well as places for the World Cup.
