Ghana defender Daniel Opare has revealed that he moved back to Belgium because he needed some level of stability in his career.
The 27 year old has played for eight different club since leaving Ghana to continue his career abroad.
Opare, who burst onto the scene after an amazing FIFA U-17 in Korea, 2007, was expected to be one of the best right backs in the world.
However, injuries and inconsistent form has seen the Ghanaian play for several club's including Spanish giants Real Madrid, Bundesliga side Augsburg, Porto and Standard Liege.
In the summer he returned to Belgium, a place he calls his second home to sign for Royal Antwerp after ending his stay with Augsburd.
The former Ashantigold Academy product has had a great start to his career in Belgium and says he wants to remain consistent and in top shape for the club.
“I played in Belgium and I know how the league is. For some couple of years now, I’ve been moving around really, so I need somewhere that I can cool off my head to play good football and get back to my level again,” he said.
“The Belgian league is a very nice league, a very young league, a very competitive and a challenging one. I know the league and how things works there.
“There are a lot of quality players who played there before moving away. I played there before moving to Porto.
“It is a good choice that I made. Belgium is like a second home to me. I feel comfortable when I’m there.”
