Breaking News: Amaju Pinnick SACKED as CAF 1st Vice-president

Published on: 18 July 2019

Amaju Pinnick has been removed as CAF First Vice President after a crunch Executive Committee meeting on Thursday.

The president of the Nigeria Football Federation, who replaced former Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been yanked after reportedly leading attacks on his boss Ahmad Ahmad.

Insiders says the tough-talking Nigerian is responsible for the recent troubles of the Madagascar ace after he was arrested by French authorities.

He has been replaced by Congolese football administrator and a member of the FIFA Council Congolese Omari Constant as 1st vice-president with Moroccan FA president Fouzi Lekjaa, becomes 2nd vice-president.

South African Danny Jordan is now the 3rd vice-president as the leadership crisis continues to hit the continent's governing body.

CAF has been thrown into leadership turmoil since its president Ahmad was arrested by French authorities under bizarre circumstances last month.

The Madagascar ace was released without charge after being questioned over corruption probe as part of an inquiry opened on May 28 by Marseille investigators into corruption, breach of trust and forgery.

Top officials have been accused of masterminding the attack on the CAF boss.

The tension between Ahmad and some members of his Executive Committee escalated following the decision to appoint FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura as the 'Fifa General Delegate for Africa'.

The move by the world governing body to improve governance within the Confederation of African Football (Caf) has been met with stiff opposition within CAF.
