Ghana FA adjourns decision on coach Stevanovic

The decision to retain or fire Goran Stevanovic as Ghana coach will be made in a fortnight, the Ghana FA has announced.

This follows Wednesday’s crunch meeting with the Ghana FA’s Executive Committee where the Serbian trainer put up a staunch defence of his stewardship.

The Black Stars tipped to end a 30-year wait for an African title could only managed fourth placed at Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Several calls have since been made for the immediate dismissal of the ex Partizan Belgrade coach following Ghana’s disappointing run at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

But the Ghana FA's Executive Committee says its needs more time to deliberate with other stakeholders before a conclusive decision is made on the future of the coach.

"We (Executive Committee) were unable to thoroughly examine the all the issues at the meeting because of the limited time," Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi told packed Press Conference in Accra.

"We will therefore need more time for deliberation and further consultations with other stakeholders before a final decision is made with regards to the future of the coach. I am sure the decision will be reached within a fortnight."

Stevanovic has one-year left to run on his two-year 30,000 Euro deal with the Ghana FA.

He has managed 7 wins out of 10 competitive fixtures as Black Stars coach with two defeats representing a 70% success rate.
