Brescia coach Lopez happy with performance despite going down to 10 men vs Juve

Brescia coach Diego Lopez says he was “happy” with his side’s performance despite going down to ten men against Juventus.

The Rondinelle lost 2-0 to the champions and remain in the bottom three in the table, but Lopez was happy with the defensive performance of the side.

“I think it’s important to demonstrate that we are still alive,” said Lopez in his post-game press conference.

“Today we came here and I thought we had a good game. For me the performance was positive.

“When you go down to ten men you risk conceding three or four goals, we held up well in the defensive phase.”

Brescia went down to ten men when Florian Aye received his marching orders after two yellow cards in the first half, did Lopez believe his dismissal was warranted?

“From the field, Aye’s second yellow card seemed a little excessice, but these things can happen.

“The important thing is that the team worked well. Maybe we should’ve helped Mario Balotelli more as he was often up front on his own.”

Brescia posed little threat to the champions for most of the game, with Balotelli seeing little of the ball.

“The balls didn’t come to him and he was often left alone. We needed to be closer to him, in this game it is difficult to talk about a single performance, especially in attack where we lacked players.”
