Turkish giants Bursaspor have rubbished reports in a section of the Ghanaian media that striker Prince Tagoe has been sacked.

Some websites reported on Thursday that the Black Stars attacker has been released because of non-performance.

But the Turkish club has issued a statement to reject the report saying the Ghanaian star is still a player of their club.

"Some media outlets have published the news that we have abrogated the contract of Prince Tagoe. Prince Tagoe is still at our club," technical director Ertugrul Sa?lam said on Bursaspor's official website.

The Turkish club says they have released the player to join the Ghana national team in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations as they begin camping on Saturday.

"Prince Tagoe is now with Ghana's National Team camp in preparation for Africa Cup of Nations," Sa?lam said.

"Prince Tagoe will participate in the tournament and return at the end."

Tagoe joined the club at the start of the season from German side Hoffenheim after excelling on loan at Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade.

But he has struggled for playing time at Bursaspor which prompted his decision to train in Ghana ahead of their departure for the Africa Cup of Nations.

He was expected to have returned from Christmas holidays in the 28 December and would have been released to join the Black Stars eight days later.

Yet he opted to train in Accra and Bursaspor say they will sanction him for not returning.

"On why he did not return, he will face the penalty in accordance with the disciplinary regulations of the club itself," said the club's technical director.

Tagoe is part of Ghana's squad departing for their training tour of South Africa on Friday.

Ghanaians will expect him to be at his best in the wake of the injury to striker Asamoah Gyan.
