Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano has revealed he has not given up hope of representing Italy again before retiring.

The 33-year-old has recently returned to the form which has seen him appear 39 times for the Azzurri in the past and the former Roma attacker is keen to add to his total.

“I think that Conte will look at all his options. Lorenzo[Insigne] is having a remarkable season, I can’t imagine a national team without him,” Cassano said when speaking on Italian TV show Tiki Taka.

“I have a one in a billion chance. I hope I can play with the national team again. Otherwise I will cheer the team on.”

Cassano went on to praise the efforts of Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri after the Bianconeri secured a tenth straight win over the weekend.

“I know Max Allegri well,” he added.

“He makes you feel important, you must when involved in club football. They lost so much when Pirlo, Vidal and Tevez left. Juventus are now the number one candidate to win the Scudetto. ”
