Ghana star Muntari hoping to return before January

AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari says he will return to football before January after undergoing knee surgery.

Muntari had surgery last week to reconstruct the cruciate ligament in his left knee and Milan said he will be out for around six months.

When asked if he will return in January, Muntari says, ''before, before ... I know my body and how it will react, I'll be back very soon.''

Muntari revealed the injury happened when he was playing football with friends and adds that Milan vice president Adriano Galliani ''is right to be angry.

“I was playing football with mates on the football field (not on the beach) last week preparing myself before pre-season started on 9th July.

"It’s unfortunate but these things happen. There was no tackle, I just felt something in my knee when I kicked the ball and immediately knew something was wrong so I immediately called the AC Milan doctor.

"The club has been very close to me during this period. I spoke to Adriano Galliani before I went in for surgery, he was angry and he has every right to be, but he told me not to worry.

"I know my body and what its reaction will be: I will be back soon.

"I’m not saying I’ll recover in a couple of days and I know I can’t push myself too far, but I will be back soon.

"I want to give my all to the club that has always been close to me and given me a wonderful new life as a footballer.

Muntari has impressed since joining Milan in January on loan from rival Inter Milan. Milan signed Kevin Constant from Genoa on loan to replace Muntari.
