Celtic stay suits Griffiths

Published on: 14 September 2018

Leigh Griffiths is over the moon after committing his long-term future to Celtic by inking a new contract with Brendan Rodgers' side.

The 28-year-old will remain with the Hoops until at least the summer of 2022.

"I am over the moon," he said. "It has been a long time coming, talks have been ongoing for a while and I am glad to get it over the line.

"The main aim is to be here for as long as I can, and for Celtic to have shown that faith in me to sign me for another four years makes me ecstatic.

"From the moment I walked in the door here, this is where I wanted to be for the rest of my life. I have been here for three-and-a-half years already and to sign another four-year deal is great. I can't wait for the future."

Griffiths scored his 100th goal for the club during the recent Europa League win over FK Suduva and is 4/5 to score at any time against St Mirren on Friday.

He added: "The Invincible season and the Double Treble season were some very good highlights and hopefully in the coming years there's more to come."

Celtic can be backed at 9/1 to beat St Mirren 2-1.
