Alessio Cerci believes his loan switch to Genoa from AC Milan can help relaunch his career.
The Italian international was banished by Diego Simeone from Atletico Madrid last winter and he has found opportunities in short supply at the Stadio Meazza since.
“I came here because I was looking for a club like Genoa,” Cerci told reports at his inaugural press conference.
“I will not talk of Milan, I came here because I wanted a challenge.
“I have always admired Genoa.”
The former Torino winger admits that Gian Piero Gasperini’s style of play was a big factor in his decision.
“The coach plays offensively and that suits my style,” he added.
“He plays a lot on the wings and that’s what I like.
“I am here to restore calm and return the player I am and I have proven to be.”
