The Ghana FA's request to have midfielder Charles Takyi eligible to play for Ghana has been granted by Fifa.

The decision was taken after Fifa's Player Status Committee was furnished with documentation from the Ghana FA and the German Federation which proved the that the St Pauli player was yet to feature for Germany's senior team.

"The request made by the Ghana Football Association and the player Charles Kwame Takyi for change of Association team is accepted," Fifa said in a letter to the Ghana FA.

"The player Charles Kwame Takyi is allowed to represent the national team of the Ghana Football Association as from the notification of the present decision," the decision of the Single Judge of the Players' Status Committee read.

The player's nationality switch comes at a time when the Black Stars have started preparations towards annexing the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The 26-year-old would however need to justify his inclusion either at club level or whenever he is given the chance play for the Black Stars to make the final cut for next January's tournament.
