CHELSEA - Diego Costa \'sees red\' for Chelsea: did he actually bite Barry?

Published on: 13 March 2016

Diego Costa picked up a second yellow card and was subsequently shown a red card following a controversial incident involving Everton player Gareth Barry, during the FA Cup quarter final tie that ended in a 2-0 victory for the Liverpool club.

Costa squared up to the Everton midfielder and, after seemingly about to bite him, repented and gave him a hug instead. Nevertheless, the referee showed both players the yellow card and Diego Costa, who had previously been booked in the first half, was sent off leaving Chelsea with ten men for the remainder of the match, which was more or less decided.

Diego Costa had been involved in a similar incident in the first half, when he reacted by spitting only inches from the referee when the match official showed him the first yellow card.
