Chelsea inch closer to appointing Juventus boss

Chelsea are preparing to launch a serious bid that would bring Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri to Stamford Bridge were it to come off.

Since the departure of Jose Mourinho in December 2015, a number of names have been linked with the Blues’ hot-seat, including Diego Simeone and former Bianconeri man Antonio Conte. However, it has become apparent that owner, Roman Abramovich’s preferred option in currently in position in Turin.

CalcioMercato.com claim that a contract has already been drawn up that would not only take Allegri to Chelsea, but include positions for his backroom staff, with Simone Folletti, Marco Landucci and even physiotherapist Stefano Grani included in the details.

The former Rossoneri coach, who led his Juventus side to the Champions League final as well as the Scudetto last season has a contract that is due to expire in 2017, but has not been approached with regards to a renewal.

He has indicated in a television interview that he has begun to learn a little bit of English, perhaps with a future move to the Premier League in mind.

Should any offer be forthcoming, it would not see any changes until the summer at the earliest, as Chelsea currently have Guus Hiddink installed as interim coach.
