Chester joint manager Anthony Johnson hails hat-trick hero Akwasi Asante

Chester  joint manager Anthony Johnson has hailed new loan signing Akwasi Asante, who announced himself to the home faithful in the best way possible with a perfect hat-trick on his Blues debut.

The 26-year-old hogged the headlines with a superlative display, scoring three goals in the side's 3-1 win over Darlington.

And the club's joint manager Anthony Johnson feels the signing of the Ghanaian will help the club.

He said: "I think as players and managers, that’s always what we want to do. People are questioning ‘why’s he doing this, why didn’t he do that, what happened at that place?’ - you want to show people a true version of yourself and there’s nothing better than proving doubters wrong.

"You see the applause that the supporters gave him every time he got a touch and got in behind them. I’m a massive believer, and I’ve always said it, our job is to get the supporters on the edge of the seat.

"We’ve promised them since minute one and over the last couple of weeks, we’ve not been able to do that.

"But I like to think with the signing that we’ve made, the promises that we’ve made, the type of player that we’ve been looking for, it’s been a long and drawn out process.

"We tried to do our diligence and hopefully for the remainder of the month and longer term, it proves to be the right decision."

Akwasi Asante has come to Chester FC to prove his doubters wrong and Blues joint-boss Anthony Johnson hopes their decision to bring the striker to the club turns out to be the correct one.

Asante announced himself in the best way possible to Blues supporters over the weekend with a perfect hat-trick on his bow for the club in the win over Darlington.

He joined the club on Friday on loan from Tamworth for an initial 28 days, though the move could eventually become a permanent one.

Asante has tossed in between the lower ties of English football.

He has played for  Solihull Moors, Grimsby Town, Mariners, and Tamworth
