Veteran coach Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie wants to see a blend of youthful and experienced players in Ghana's final squad for the Africa Cup of Nations finals next year.

A lot of promising stars have emerged in the last two years and knocking on the door of head coach Goran Stevanovic.

Massawudu Alhassan, Mohammed Abu and Jordan Ayew have had spells with the Black Stars in recent times.

The likes of Norway-based King Osei Gyan, Afriyie Acquah, Richmond Boakye-Yiadom and FC Porto whiz kid Christian Atsu are waiting for calls.

About five of the current Black Stars squad were members of Afranie's Under-20 team which won silver at the 2001 World Youth Championships in Argentina.

He believes a perfect mix can end Ghana's 29-year-old title drought.

"I think that there is the need to blend the youth and the old guys for the championship. It’s one of the key figures that can help us win the championship," Afranie told Accra-based Happy FM.

"The two will match up experience and youthful exuberance which will go a long to make us a strong force.

" If you look at the current squad and you'll realize that most of them are members of the 2001 squad and surely after 2012, some of them may fade out.

"So this is the time to bring in some few young talents."

I am very supprised Coach Afranie would make such statements.I wonder whether he to a critical look at the squad we have. From the goal Keeper to the number eleven player the 'senior guys' can be counted on ones fingers. If he's forgotten only Ghana and Germany had the youngest squad at the 2010 world cup.How can they be old in less than a year. This is when we have to reap their experience from the world cup albeit at a very young age.

Is coach Afranie in this world or not.The current team is already a blend of youth and experience>derrick boateng, paintsil ,j mensah and sulley form the experience ones:dede ayew, inkoom, opare,k asamoah, badu etc form the youth.

He wants to go and sell his local players on the market. The positions should be on MERIT, no PROTOCOL. If you can perform we would use you. If you are a local player we wont assume you are handicapped. We want a player that can defend against PAPIS DEMBA CISSE MUSA SOW DEMBA BA ADEL TARABT DROGBA KALOU HADJI and their ilk. Fake Coach.

I thought that except for a few veterans Ghana has a relatively young side. Of course new young players of exceptional talent who will strengthen the team should not be overlooked. In midfield for example, is Ghana looking for a holding, a creative (playmaker) or offensive player? in defence, Massawudu is an exciting prospect for the left back position.

Look at all these players like Jo Ayew, Chris Atsu, Albert Adomah, Afriyie Acquah, Maxwell Boadi Acosty, Mohammed Abu, Abdul Razak (of Man City), Kofi Agyei (Fiorentina), King Osei Gyan, Sadat Bukari, Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, Vandam Jerry, etc..etc..etc...together with guys like Rabiu Mohammed, Abeiku Quansah, and the others from the wiining-U20 squad and a very foolish coach like David Duncan could not invite any of these guys to help us qualify for the Olympic games next year?? Ebei, David Duncan, Nyame betua wo ka papapapaaaaa....aaaaah! Now see how some of these talents are gona go waste, because the system is now getting choked...and the old players also don't wanna retire...and the coach also doesn't wanna drop the unfit and old ones for us to start preparing for BRAZIL 2014! God save us all!! But David Duncan, may you never get a good team to coach...ever....! You "shaaa waa"...useless coach! But ebei, Afranie, your face bi dat? I dey fear sef. Man must be ugly and fearful, but dis fearfulness and ugliness...(ok., my mouth is zipped ooo, abeg).
