Cofie Bekoe scores debut Lierse goal

Ghana midfielder Cofie Bekoe was man-of-the-match, scored his first goal for Belgian side Lierse in a 2-1 win over KV Mechelen on Monday in the Europa League play-offs.

The dribbler beat Pandza down the left, hit the byline with his blistering pace to deliver a stinging cross for for Daylon Claasen to connect home for the opener in the 24th minute.

Twelve minutes later, Bekoe got his name on the score-sheet and seal the victory for Lierse.

Claasen and Adesanya combined beautifully to play through Bekoe who kept his cool to tap home the doubler for Lierse.

Alessandro Cordaro halved the deficit for KV Mechelen on the 55th minute mark.

Bekoe, nicknamed Africa Messi, was cleared to play for the side last month after a controversial move from Egyptian side Petrojet.

The victory was Lierse's first in eight matches.
