Former player of the Black Stars forward Augustine Ahinful has was waded into the post-match analysis of how the Black Satellites failed miserably at the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger.

Ghana lost to Mali by a lone goal in the final group game on Saturday which ended the team’s chances of progressing to the semi-final and the U-20 FIFA World Cup to be held in Poland.

Ahinful added his voice to growing concerns over the performances of the team at the tournament, positing that the current team did not represent the best crop of players in the country.

"This is the worst U-20 side I have seen. This is not the best U-20 to represent us. I don’t know what informed the selection of these players,” he told Happy FM.

He added that  Jimmy Cobblah's excuse of poor preparation is laughable as the team had ample time to prepare before the tournament.

"I think they had enough time to prepare well for this competition. Inadequate preparation can’t be a reason, the coach should spare us this excuse."

Ahinful proposed that in going forward the FA should build a good foundation by scouting for good players to represent our various national youth teams.

"We have to change and swift our focus and build a good foundation. Our problem is how to scout and select the right players. That’s our main problem.”

"The core of the U-20 should have come from the U-17 team with additions from outside. A better U-20 means we'll have a formidable Black Stars.”

"I look at the hair styles of these players and I get amazed. The technical team must nurture and coach them properly,” he deduced.
