D'AVERSA: “WE’VE WORKED WELL OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS”

Published on: 22 July 2019

Following Parma’s final match during their training camp in Prato Allo Stelvio, the Crociati's coach Roberto D’Aversa commented on his side’s friendly win against Maia Alta. This is what he had to say:

“Over these past two weeks, we’ve worked really well.  Apart from a more serious injury to Siligardi a few days ago, there have only been a few niggles here and there, like with Kucka yesterday, but this is a small problem. However, we need to take into the account that the workload has been very high and the lads are doing very well. Beyond positions on the pitch, we’re looking to occupy the spaces: Kulusevski can play as a mezzala and also out wide because he’s an intelligent and very good footballer. Karamoh is a player who plays more in one role and has a different physique compared to Dejan. They are two promising youngsters who could do very well.

“Up to this point, the Club has worked excellently – I’ve been able to try out different things within the group because of what’s been done. There are many rumours regarding the transfer market: it’s sad when choices are made regarding outgoings. For example, Jacopo Dezi is demonstrating what a great professional he is on and off the pitch and that he deserves to remain here. All I can do is compliment him.

“The second half of last season? The dynamics need to be taken into account: when big players like Inglese, Grassi and Gervinho are out, absences like this are felt. This year, the Club is working in such a way so as to ensure that injuries don’t affect the team’s performance. We might have subconsciously thought that we’d already achieved our objective after the win in Udine, but this serves as a lesson: the squad is developing in terms of quality and structure.

“As regards our attacking play, working on how to fill the area was something we did last year, we are changing a few small things regarding how to create certain situations. However, the way the lads interpret things and the belief they show are always important. Inglese is a big player, shown by the fact that many teams in Serie A TIM were after his signature. I’m delighted he’s joined. I’m also happy about Cornelius, who showed that he’s an excellent footballer today. Ceravolo is also fighting back after a difficult period. For a coach, having different possibilities gives you a headache, but this is a positive thing. It also helps raise the intensity in training because there’s more competition for places. This can only be advantageous as we prepare for matchdays.”
