De Rossi: Cristiano Ronaldo signing gives Juventus huge advantage

Juventus’ signing of Cristiano Ronaldo has given them a huge advantage in the Scudetto race according to Roma’s Daniele De Rossi.

The Portuguese star was officially presented as a new member of the Bianconeri on Monday, amidst a flurry of enthusiasm from fans of the Old Lady.

De Rossi stated that while he is pleased to see a star like Ronaldo move to Serie A, it means Juve are once again favourites to take home the title.

“It’s a benefit for the league and for Juventus,” he told Roma TV. “They are always looking for more, and after seven straight titles, they’ve almost killed the league again.

“They are looking to reach the top, but then the games must be played. Nothing is certain, but they are certainly starting two or three steps ahead of everyone.

“With a player like that, they are probably thinking the Scudetto is a given so that they can push for the Champions League, even though it may not play out like that.”

Roma have been busy in the transfer market so far this summer, and De Rossi took time to praise the signing of Javier Pastore from PSG.

“I am friends with [Salvatore] Sirigu and [Marco] Verratti, and they had a lot of good things to say about Pastore,” he added.

“He is a wonderful and educated person. He is very good and just needs some time to get readjusted to the Serie A given France isn’t as competitive.

“He is already giving his all.”

De Rossi has featured in 593 competitive matches for Roma since his debut back in 2001.
