Delayed AshGold-Edubiase fixture fixed for 20 Feb

The aborted Premier League match between AshantiGold and New Edubiase has been fixed for Sunday 20 February.

The game at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium was postponed on 12 January due to crowd troubles but both parties claimed they have now settled their differences.

Chief Executive Officer Abdul Salam Yakubu is optimistic time has healed the hate and anger of fans for the game to be incident free.

''The PLB have confirmed to us the game will happen on Sunday and as professional as were, we’re always ready and so will be game for AshGold at Obuasi," Yakubu said.

''A lot has gone under the bridge in the past and we’ve admitted our mistakes in our match. We’re ready to offset any cost as a result of the incident. I’ve told my friend and brother Mr Fianoo to give me the figures and then we’ll take it from there."

The corresponding fixture played in Bekwai ended in violence as buses of AshantiGold were destroyed and fans beaten up.

At meeting with the organizers of the league, the two parties were said to have reached a rapprochement.

But that did not seem to have softened the stance of the home fans who were bent on venting their spleen on the travelling supporters and players in their supposed January 12 fixture.
