Wife of midfielder Derek Boateng, Aisha, has expressed shock at the omission of Richard Kingson and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie from Ghana’s squad for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

Kingson, 33, according to the coach Goran Stevanovic was dropped due to his inactive club career but the Serbian trainer admitted to the difficult decision to ditch Owusu-Abeyie.

And speaking to TV3’s weekend football program “The Diva Show”, Aisha believe both Kingson and Owusu-Abeyie should have made the team by virtue of their past experience at the Nations Cup.

“I was surprised at the team. It was without Richard Kingson and Quincy,” she said.

“Both of them were there at the last Cup of Nations and they have the experience so I was surprised at their exclusion.”

The Black Stars are currently camping in South Africa ahead of the start of the Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea on January 21.

Ghana is drawn in Group D alongside Botswana, Guinea and Mali and plays its first game against Botswana on January 24.
