Dyche plans to shock Spurs

Published on: 13 December 2018

Sean Dyche admits that no-one will be expecting his Burnley side to beat in-form Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday.

However, the Clarets boss hopes that his players will be able to play without fear after they brought their winless run to an end by recording a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Brighton at Turf Moor last weekend.

Burnley are two points above the bottom three and 6/4 not to be relegated this season, following their win against Chris Hughton's Seagulls but face a tough task in the capital as third-placed Spurs are on a high after qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League following Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Barcelona.

Dyche said: "Tottenham are having a fine start to the season and they had a great result the other night. I really like the way they go about their business.

"Their manager plays direct football but in a passing style, if they can get out quickly then they do. They're effective.

"They don't keep the ball for the sake of it. They keep the ball but try and penetrate and with that they are an effective side.

"We go down there with a bit more freedom, the expectation changes. Last week against Brighton when there was really heavy expectation for us to get a result."

Dyche will hand late fitness tests to Steven Defour and Johann Berg Gudmundsson ahead of the trip to Wembley.

Burnley are available at 16/1 to beat Spurs and at 13/2 to secure a draw at Wembley.
