Burnley boss Sean Dyche is adamant that he has no intention of offering former Clarets midfielder David Jones a contract at Turf Moor.
The 34-year-old has been involved in pre-season training with the rest of the Burnley squad after leaving Sheffield Wednesday and has flown to Portugal for a week of warm weather training.
However, Dyche said of Jones: "He was an amazing servant and out of professional courtesy we brought him with us to help him. If someone comes in for him, great news, we wish him well."
Meanwhile, Peter Crouch, who spent the second half of last season with the Clarets, has ended his playing career at the age of 38.
Crouch, who made 42 appearances for England, was a trainee at Tottenham and played for 11 clubs, including Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Stoke City, during his 21-year professional career.
"If you had told me at 17 I'd play in World Cups, get to a Champions League final, win the FA Cup and get 100 Premier League goals, I would have avoided you at all costs," Crouch wrote on Twitter.
"It's been an absolute dream come true. Our wonderful game has given me everything. I'm so thankful to everyone who helped me get there and helped me stay there for so long."
Crouch scored 108 goals in 468 top-flight appearances during his career and won the FA Cup in 2005/06 with Liverpool.
He added: "To go from being a regular starter to someone whose role is limited to 10 or 15 minutes off the bench has been hard to accept.
"I will be 39 in January but I am physically fit and could have carried on. What I didn't want to be was someone who was thrown on to have balls smashed up to them."
Burnley are 6/4 to be relegated in the 2019/20 season and 6/4 to beat Southampton in their first game on 10th August.
