Emery refuses to be rushed

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery says he is content to play a waiting game to ensure that the Gunners add the right players to their squad for the upcoming campaign.

The Londoners, who finished in fifth Place in the Premier League last term. Have made just one first-team signing so far this summer, recruiting teenage Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano.

I only want to sign three or four players if we can be sure they are coming to improve our squad.

However, Emery insists neither he, nor the Gunners hierarchy, will be rushed into chasing deals that are not ideal for the club.

The Spaniard told reporters: "I am patient because we want to choose the best solution.

"Some players are very expensive and we are waiting for this possibility because we don't want now to go to the second line of players. We are waiting and really we have very good young players.

"We are aware we also need to improve some areas in this squad, but I only want to sign three or four players if we can be sure they are coming to improve our squad."

Emery, who took charge at the Emirates Stadium just over a year ago, was speaking after seeing his side make it three wins out of three in pre-season friendlies.

Their latest success was a 3-0 victory over Italian side Fiorentina in Charlotte, North Carolina, with Eddie Nketiah scoring twice and Joe Willock also finding the net.

Arsenal are available at 5/4 to finish in the top four in the Premier League this season, with Chelsea priced at 5/4 and Manchester United 11/10.
