In-form striker Emmanuel Clottey says he can step into the plate to lead the attack of the Black Stars.

The Berekum Chelsea attacker has been flawless in front of goal in this season’s Caf Champions League where he has scored an incredible 11 goals to propel the side to second position in Group A of Africa elite inter-club competition.

He has continuously warmed the bench of the Black Stars but there are many who believe the 24-year-old has proved his goal scoring instincts and deserve to land a starting role in coach Kwesi Appiah’s team for next month's international friendly against China and more crucially the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.

Ghana has only one recognized world-class striker in Asamoah Gyan and the former Odense BK forward want to fancy his chances of playing alongside the Al Ain attacker.

“I am ready to play whenever I am given the chance to prove myself,” Clottey told Accra-based Peace FM

“It is the perogative of the coach to decide which player he prefers to start in a game but like I said I am always ready when the opportunity presents itself,”

“ I have not had the chance to start but I am not bothered because the fact that you start does not mean you are automatically going to score,”

“Everything is a matter of time I believe.”

Clottey’s pace, skills, lethal strikes and goal scoring abilities have contributed in making him a powerful goal scoring brand on the African continent.
