EUROPA LEAGUE: Tottenham squeeze past Qarabag

Tottenham are through to the knockout stages of the Europa League courtesy of a 1-0 win over Qarabag.

Harry Kane fired Spurs to a narrow victory in Azerbaijan, scoring the only goal of the contest in the 78th minute, to see the North Londoners remain top of Group J.

It was a six-hour trip not in vain for Mauricio Pochettino's side who are through to the Round of 32 with a game in hand which comes in the form of a home encounter with Monaco on December 10.

Qarabag frustrated Spurs for much of the night in front of a passionate crowd but the visitors eventually broke the deadlock with just over 10 minutes remaining when the in-form Kane nodded home Son Heung-min's flick-on from a Christian Eriksen corner.

Tottenham will now make the long trip back to London to prepare for Sunday's Premier League clash with London rivals Chelsea.
