Everton takeover gathering pace

An American consortium led by former San Diego Padres owner John Jay Moores and fellow entrepreneur Charles Noell are edging closer to a £200m takeover of the Toffee's.

It is believed the deal may even be completed by the end of the month, as talks with current Everton owner Bill Kenwright have advanced. There remains interest from two China-based groups, however they would likely only come into play if a deal with the American consortium collapsed.
