Ex-GHALCA chairman J.Y Appiah has slammed the sanctions on Kotoko insisting the club’s umbrella body lack the capacity to do so.

Kotoko's Executive Board chairman Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong will hold showdown talks with the five-man interim committee on Monday as he seeks to douse the tension between the two parties.

Kotoko were slapped with a one-year ban from all GHALCA related activities and a 10,000 Ghana cedis fine for boycotting the presentation ceremony of the President Cup on 1July.

But the ex-GHALCA boss says the association erred in handing out the punishment.

"When issues of this nature come up, it is important we don't rush and act on emotions. The game was sanctioned by the GFA and so the buck stops with the FA and not GHALCA," Appiah said.

"It's the FA's disciplinary committee that has the mandate to deal with such issues."

Then you are already a fool, because GHALCA is backtracking seriuosly, there is something in numbers and we intend to use it to the max. We are not against discipline, but we will not allow illegimate bodies to arrogate to themselves the obnoxious power of sanctions. These blokes always want to get us angry before every new season by setting other clubs against us. We are the biggest club in the country and this must count for something.

Fifa 1,tell us when was the last time Kotoko won an inter-continental trophy. If my memory serves me right it was back in 1983 which is about 28 yrs ago.Plz stop boosting with past glories,if you claim you're the best then win the CAF champions league and lets see, take it or leave it Hearts Of Oak is the heartbeat of GH football. You can find that on FIFA's website,we are the best.

where on fifa website bruv, kotoko is rank third ,hearts of oak 9th on on fifa africa ranking maybe you check on both castro and caf official website.anyway both team represent Ghana and wish them all the best in the upcoming season, they should rise from their slumber cus enkoyie koraa for both clubs, hearts of oaks can at least boast of current records whiles kotoko use to be power house of africa football .but both teams are lacking oflate and need improvement.

its OK Guys who is the first and second does not matter. what i know is if Kotoko and Hearts are on their Feet Ghana football benefits. A good example is those days when Ghana was winning the African Cup of nations. Now lets discuss what the ex-Ghalca boss has said. I have said it on this forum that GHALCA has no right to ban or fine Kotoko. It is the right of only GFA, CAF and FIFA. Kotoko has every right to not pay that fine and can even take Ghalca to court for them to pay the second place money and also the appearance fees but if GFA comes in, Kotoko will have to pay and serve the ban. Lets know that we may have our freedom but it also ends some where. Peace

Foolish talk by Fifa, who is kotoka, how do they think at all.we Ghanaians are wise cos we need displine in our football.what kind of achievement are you talking about,my friend face the facts, this are all that are making our football boring and people in other countries are not ready to watch and at the end affecting our junior national teams.

  • NanaKash 7 years ago

Think before you talk my brother... think.

  • Fifa 1 7 years ago

Mikael Fante and Edem,I respect what NanaKash stated here and for that reason i would not say anything to you,but check your fact very well before you come out with any comment. In the year 2000,"FIFA's"Football History and Statistics ranked Kotoko as the continent’s Club of the Century based on results.Even though CAF placed us third in a similar ranking - behind Egyptian giants Al Ahly and Zamalek,so what the hell are you people talking about?11 years now and there is no club in this country that can over take us in terms of result, trophies, and achievement in the field You can check both FIFA'S and CAF'S OFFICIAL WEBSITE
