Ben Koufie has endorsed the idea of multiple terms of an incumbent Ghana FA President but only on basis of performance.

The issue of term extension has dominated the Ghana airwaves following the re-election of Argentine Football President Julio Grondona for a staggering ninth term.

Grondona’s feat has got many football enthusiasts thinking as to whether the current Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi could be afforded such luxury of multiple re-elections in future after winning his second straight term.

And this, the 79-year-old who was a Ghana FA boss himself between 2001 and 2003 sees nothing wrong with provided the incumbent is performing and more importantly if the status doesn’t bar him from contesting.

“It all depends on the constitution of the association. If the constitution allows for an incumbent to keep seeking re-election and he is doing well, why stop him?” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“If the person is getting good results and is industrious like what is happening now with Kwasi Nyantakyi, he has to carry on.

“I am not saying there should be no competition for the post, what I am saying is that if the person is doing well and the constitution does not bar him from contesting then he should continue.”
