Former Asante Kotoko captain Yussif Chibsah says it will be a bad decision of management of the club terminate the contract of C.K Akonnor following the team's exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Akonnor's term at the club has come under scrutiny despite taking up the job just six months ago, and leading the team to the group stages of the continent's second tier competition.

According to close sources, some top management members are not satisfied with the former Ghana captain's work.

However, Yussif Chibsah who played for Kotoko between 2003 to 2006 believes Akonnor did a great job with the club in Africa and should be allowed to serve his three year tenure.

“If you employ a coach, you need to set a target and goals for him and I know Kotoko has a target for CK Akonnor," he told Starr Sports.

“Looking at the performance of Kotoko taking into consideration where they’re coming from where there is no football in the country and he having just some few months to prepare the team for the competition, I would say that CK did a great job with the team.

“There should be no reason for anyone to suggest that CK should be sacked. It will be a wrong decision.”
