Former Kotoko chairman Herbert Mensah could throw himself into the race for the Ghana FA presidency in 2019, multiple sources have claimed.

The celebrated ex-Kotoko chief is reported to be interested in succeeding Kwesi Nyantakyi, who will step down after 14-years at the local governing body in the next two years.

Mensah, who is the President of the Ghana Rugby Association, has been coy on the reported interested in the top job.

But sources are claiming the astute football administrator could throw his hat into the ring for the race to replace the FIFA Council member.

If the former Kotoko chief announce his intention to contest, it will likely prompt other contenders to confirm their plans to stand.

Former Ghana FA vice-president Fred Pappoe is the only person who has publicly announced his intention to contest for the position - amid claims a number of top football aficionados are lacing their boots for the electoral showdown.

Randy Abbey, a former Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, has ruled himself out of the race  - citing other commitments.

At the moment, there are FIVE serious candidates hoping to succeed Kwesi Nyantakyi with Dreams FC Executive Chairman Kurt Okraku largely seen as the bookmakers’ favourite to succeed Nyantakyi with his supporters indicating that he has picked up widespread support from leaders of the various voting constituencies.
