Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku is set to join Italian side Udinese on a bumper deal, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 20-year-old, who plays for Tunisian side Club Africain, is set to complete the deal worth 1.1 million Euros after the two clubs opened negotiations.

The former Berekum Chelsea is expected to hold direct talks with Udinese after Wednesday's friendly between Ghana and Japan.

Udinese, a club known for grooming the careers of several young Ghanaian players, sent scouts to monitor the defender in recent matches for the Tunisian club.

A deal will be reached if Opoku agrees to the contract terms offered by the Italian side.

A central defender of 1 meter and 90, Opoku has already made his debut in the Ghanaian National Team last year.

He has 2 appearances in the match against the USA in a friendly and against Uganda in the African group of World Cup Qualifying.

Most of recent Ghana top players from Stephen Appiah, Sulley Muntari, Mohammed Gargo, Kwadwo Asamoah and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu all played for Udinese.
