FIGC president wants Mancini as Italy coach

Italian Football Federation president Carlo Tavecchio reportedly wants Roberto Mancini to lead the Azzurri later this year.

Antonio Conte is into his third year as Italy coach since taking over in 2014 after the World Cup, but may be relieved of his duties if he puts in a poor performance in his first international tournament.

If that was to happen, then FIGC president Tavecchio would love to see current Inter tactician Mancini take the reins, report Sky Sport Italia.

Having been linked with the Chelsea hotseat in recent weeks, it could turn out that Conte looks for a fresh challenge in the summer following Euro 2016 anyway, which would clear the path for Mancini.

Like Conte, Mancini has only been in his current job since 2014, with the former Manchester City boss taking over from Walter Mazzarri in a surprise appointment.
