Figo: Inter are exceeding expectations

Inter ambassador Luis Figo has spoken of the moment of optimism and enthusiasm which currently surrounds the club.

The Portuguese legend spoke to the media following a charity match held in Kuwait and took some time to discuss Inter’s strong start to the campaign which sees them sit top the Serie A table.

“Inter are currently doing very well and have exceeded a difficult time by changing structure and making a significant financial investment,” Figo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Now the hope of winning the Scudetto and returning to Europe will give energy to everyone.”

A return to form for Juventus has seen them rise back up the table and the former Real Madrid man spoke briefly about the Bianconeri now nipping at Inter’s heels.

“Juve are accustomed to managing pressure and their quality will make for an interesting second half to an intense season,” Figo added.

Figo spent his final four seasons as a player with Inter and looked back on his successful tenure with the Nerazzurri.

“I have many good memories, I arrived at Inter when the side were used to winning,” Figo said.

“Massimo Moratti was important, without him we would not have been able to achieve anything.”

Finally, Figo was asked what he learned most during his time in Italy.

“I was taught the culture of tactics which made me a more complete player,” Figo concluded.
