Fiorentina chase Barcelona defender

Barcelona defender Marc Bartra is in the sights of Serie A side Fiorentina as they’re looking to reinforce their defence.

The 25-year-old has only managed to secure eight La Liga appearances for the Catalan giants this season, and he has scored one goal and provided one assist.

Fiorentina scout Pedro Pereira has identified the 24-year-old Spaniard as the ideal man to bring to Italy, according to reports from FirenzeViola.it.

It appears as though the defender is willing to leave the club following a lack of playing time with the likes of Gerard Pique, Thomas Vermaelen, Jeremy Mathieu and even defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets being favoured in the defence this season.

La Viola are closely monitoring Bartra’s situation at his boyhood club, as he could be interested in a move to the side from Florence.

The player’s contract expires in 2017, so Barcelona may be ready to sell if he wants out.
