Leanier Afiyea-Obo Addy is promising to impact positively after she became the first woman to be elected onto the Ghana Football Association executive committee on Wednesday.
The executive member of the Women's League Board and an ex-referee beat off competition from founder of Kumasi-based Falcons ladies, Habiba Atta and the former Premier League Board chairman Sylvester Kyintoh Mensah.
Addy polled five votes representing 62.5% of total vote cast and as will be the representative from the constituent bodies.
Her closest challenger Habiba Atta got two votes and the experienced Kyintoh Mensah polled one vote.
"I am very happy at what has happened here and will bring worth of experience to bear on the position to help push the image of the game," an elated Addy said.
"It's important we have the voice of a woman on the committee and I believe having served in different capacities at the women’s Board, I will help push the agenda of women football in the country.
"This is no victory for anyone but for all of us who contested. We're a team and will work together to ensure we help develop and promote the game."
Fifa president Sepp Blatter recently promised to make amendment that will see a woman serve on its Executive Committee for the first time after he was re-elected unopposed for another five-year term.
