Former Hearts of Oak captain Thomas Abbey reveals why he left Ismailly SC

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Abbey has opened up on reasons why he left Egyptian topflight side Ismaily SC after just a season.

The former Hearts of Oak captain insists that frustrations and the desire to seek bigger challenges forced his decision to terminate his contract with Egyptian side.

“I was getting frustrated by the irregular play time with Ismaily so I decided to mutually terminate my contract with them so I can pursue interest elsewhere” he told Graphic Sports.

The 2017 SWAG Footballer of the Year terminated his contract with the Cairo-based club after just six months into his two-year contract with local media attributing the termination to his poor form and injuries.

However, the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) gold winning midfielder cited irregular play time as the reason for mutually terminating his contract.

Thomas Abbey was Hearts of Oak's of best player a season before his move to Egypt, scoring 13 premier League goals as Hearts finished 3rd.
